REPORTS TO: Project Manager and/or Assistant Project Manager

PRIMARY OBJECTIVES OF POSITION

Review, analysis, management, and resolution of field coordination issues with project team members and participants. Support management positions in financial, procurement, cost issues, and field coordination for successful project delivery within budget and schedule.

KEY RESULT AREAS (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS)

A. Interpret project plans, specifications, and details for subcontractors and craft persons

  1. Implement the pre-construction quality plan.
  2. Obtain and maintain all necessary construction permits. a. Work with Project Manager for fee payments or recurring permit expenses.
  3. Develop and maintain: Submittal log, Material Tracking List, Project Test and Inspection Listing, Concrete Placement Log, Non-Conformance Report.
  4. Manage, create, and distribute contract documents.
  5. Establish handling procedures for electronic documents, including Request for Information (RFI) and correspondence.
  6. Incorporate all processes and procedures that support the project closeout phase.

B. Manage all aspects of testing and inspection processes for the construction quality management program

  1. Implement three-phase inspection system.
  2. Establish reporting formats, protocols, schedules, and any off-site testing procedures.
  3. Notify the Project Manager and Superintendent promptly of test results or inspection items that do not conform to contract requirements.

C. Manage submittals

  1. Set up register in accordance with project specifications. a. Obtain the customer/architect’s approval.
  2. Prepare project-specific transmittal forms in PCMS.
  3. Coordinate the packaging, review, and processing of submittals.
  4. Expedite submittals to ensure material deliveries are in sync with the project schedule.
  5. Communicate details and requirements for the submittal process to subcontractors and suppliers.
  6. Issue submittal requirement letters that outline packaging and processing requirements.
  7. Provide periodic updates of the submittal register to the customer or architect.
  8. Coordinate details of various subcontractors, including verifying insurance, preparing paperwork, and requesting final payment from Finance.

D. Develop and distribute RFIs and Change Orders

  1. Define and implement procedures for posting revisions and updates to as-built construction documents.
  2. Incorporate subcontractor as-built documentation in the procedures for revising or updating contract documents.

E. Other duties as assigned, including:

  1. Determine alternative work methods as needed.
  2. Coordinate safety and compliance for all team members.
  3. Maintain schedule of timelines and follow through until completion.

B. Responsible for the mentoring, management, and timely performance evaluation of field engineers and entry-level project engineers.

  6. Ability to interpret and communicate GenCap policies.
  7. Comfortable participating in and leading meetings with subcontractors and occasionally clients.
  8. Ability to detect and proactively resolve issues independently, recognizing their urgency.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  1. Bachelor’s degree in construction, Civil, or Architectural Engineering or Construction Management, or equivalent experience.
  2. Minimum of two to four years related experience.
  3. Current driver’s license.

ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL AND TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

This position requires the following with or without an accommodation: sitting, walking, standing, lifting, climbing, pushing, pulling, hearing, visual acuity, and utilization of a computer and office equipment. This person must be physically capable of reviewing a job site multiple times daily.

The working environments consist of exposure to dirt, heat, noise, dust, and outdoor weather; as well as indoor and climate-controlled settings. Overnight travel of up to 100% may be necessary to fulfill the objectives of the position.
