POSITION SUMMARY
As a Project Engineer at GenCap, you will play a crucial role in the successful execution of multifamily and commercial construction projects. You will work closely with project managers, superintendents, and subcontractors to review, analyze and manage field coordination issues with project team members and participants to ensure that projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. This position requires a background in construction management or engineering, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively with initiative, productivity, and a positive attitude.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Project Coordination: Collaborate with project management to develop and implement project schedules, budgets, and interpret project plans and specification details for subcontractors and craft labor.
- Documentation Management: Prepare and maintain project documentation, including submittals, RFIs, change orders, and meeting minutes. Communicate details and requirements for the submittal process to subcontractors and suppliers. Coordinate details of various subcontractors, including verifying insurance, preparing paperwork, and requesting final payment from Finance.
- Quality Control: Manage all aspects of testing and inspection processes for the construction quality management program. Conduct regular site inspections to ensure compliance with plans, specifications, and safety standards.
- Technical Support: Provide engineering support and solutions to construction challenges, ensuring adherence to design specifications.
- Communication: Facilitate effective communication between project stakeholders, including architects, engineers, and subcontractors.
- Cost Management: Assist in tracking project costs and preparing budget forecasts to ensure financial objectives are met.
- Team Leadership: Responsible for leading subcontractors by example and fostering a collaborative team environment.
- Problem Solving: Tracks potential issues and communicates resolutions to mitigate risks and delays.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience: 2 years of experience in construction project engineering preferred. Relevant construction engineer internship(s) experience applies.
- Licenses and Certifications:
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or related certifications (e.g., LEED AP) is a plus.
- Desired Knowledge and Skills:
- Intermediate skill level in construction management software (e.g., Procore, Microsoft Project) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Proven positive and professional attitude and customer service skills.
- Detail orientation sufficient to organize and manage multiple project tasks.
- Possess a basic understanding of construction law and generally accepted business practices.
- Understanding of construction processes, materials, and building codes.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills; ability to work effectively in a team and manage multiple priorities.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This position requires the following with or without an accommodation: sitting, walking, standing, lifting, climbing, pushing, pulling, hearing, and visual acuity. This person must be physically capable of reviewing a jobsite multiple times daily.
The working environments consist of exposure to dirt, heat, noise, dust, and outdoor weather; as well as indoor and climate-controlled settings. Overnight travel of up to 100% may be necessary to fulfill the objectives of the position.
SALARY
Salary Range: $80,000 - $95,000 plus annual bonus
